Menzieshill Parish Church has a role of over 300 with active attendance of approximately 60 at the morning service and 10-20 in the evening. We have recently adopted a unitary constitution and currently have a 24 strong Kirk Session. With around 75% of our congregation in the 60+ age group we are an ageing congregation, with some young families. We are, however, a very active congregation with the church halls in use every day of the week. Our youth work is spear-headed by our very strong Girls’ and Boys’ Brigade companies which in total have 130 children regularly attending. For primary aged children we also run a Good News Club and Sunday School (Searchlights), while for teens Bible Class takes the form of the Big Cell. For adults we have the Tuesday Open House, Women’s Group and Men’s Club, which mix the social with the spiritual. For those who enjoy a bit of exercise there is a Badminton club. We have a house group and the ladies Know your Bible (KYB) group which meets fortnightly, and a Bible exploration group (Seek & Search) which meets monthly. |
Prayer is the cornerstone of this church as evidenced by the Monday day of prayer, the Wednesday prayer meeting and monthly prayer breakfast. To complement this we have a very varied calendar of social and fundraising events. |
We have two Sunday services. Morning worship at 11am is a structured blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles centred round Bible-based, challenging preaching. We have developed a monthly all–age worship service and celebrate Holy Communion on the last Sunday of each month. The 6:30pm service is less formal, with a focus on worship and teaching, with opportunities for testimony. Prayer ministry is offered and frequently received after services and at both services the worship is led by a small music group. Additional services during Holy week and evening services during Advent are regularly led by members of the congregation. |
